Meet Kylie Mazon-Chambers, a cook, writer and photographer of the blog, Cooking with Cocktail Rings. Kylie grew up in New Jersey but is now based in Santa Monica, CA, walking distance to the beach! She takes inspiration for her recipes from her travel experiences. She believes in experimenting in the kitchen and not perfection! Her recipes are drool-worthy, which she captures beautifully! Read on to find out more about it all.
What did you do in college?
I went to school at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA where I majored in Public Relations.
What are the things that matter to you the most?
Definitely my family and friends! And of course my animals – between my family pets and my cat, Stella, they are the best to have around.
What does a typical day in your week look like?
I get up and start my day with coffee and breakfast and usually look through emails. Then I try to either go workout or go for a long walk before really starting my day. Some days this is more successful than others – sometimes I am out grocery shopping at the crack of dawn and going to 5 different grocery stores to get everything I need for a recipe! Then I make the recipe for that day, style it, take photos and then sit down to edit. I usually will write more recipes or posts later on in the day. I typically eat whatever I made that day for dinner. No food goes to waste!
Are there key people or books that have moulded you?
I am always inspired by my family. Both my parents are big sources of inspiration to me – my mom is a natural hostess. Growing up our house was always decked out with decor for every holiday whether it was Christmas, Halloween or Easter. As one of the most selfless people I know, she taught me the importance of doing whatever you can to help others. My dad has always encouraged me to follow my passions and never give up. My grandparents have also inspired me – they are my editors and are always available for advice. My husband, Aaron, is a major source of creativity. He helps me come up with crazy and fun recipes while also being my sounding board. It’s because of him that I started Cooking with Cocktail Rings!
Tell us something we don’t know about the creator’s work?
While I love getting to do it all – it can be challenging to run all aspects of my business that often there are various employees for.
What is your favourite recipe from your blog?
This is a hard one! I should have a running “top 10” list because it’s always changing as I write! I really like the shrimp scampi risotto though – it’s good for dinner parties.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
That is always a work in progress. I would love to continue down the path that I am on. I have been able to work with some incredible brands over the years and I would like to keep that up!
