Alexandra Linares is a digital content creator based in London. She shares her love for travel, fashion and style through her blog. She was born in Peru and raised in Figures, Spain. Her passion for fashion and travel inspired her to create her own online business and she wants to empower young women to go after their dreams. We interviewed her and read on to learn more about her journey.

What did you do in college?

I recently graduated from Kingston University with a first honors major in International Business, including a year abroad in NYC.

What are the things that matter to you the most?

The things that I matter the most is my family and friends. Regardless distance between my home country (Peru and Spain) and where I currently live, I never stop thinking about them. They are always in my heart but I am fighting for a better future so I can provide this to them very soon. I recently became an activist and vegan and I must say that my appreciation for animals has increased tremendously. I love them more than ever and they are now part of my family too.

What does a typical day in your week look like?

My week is very busy. I work full time as a Marketing Executive at a luxury hair removal company and I am also doing a full-time Master. Normally I go to work and school or vice versa and back home around 6:30. I spend my afternoons editing my shootings, working on my blog and my online business.  Weekends are very busy, I try to meet my friends but I am normally shooting in London and recording my videos for my channels. I never rest!

Are there key people or books that have moulded you?

Yes, definitely. Greta Thunberg is one of them! She has influenced me a lot even though she is younger than me. She is talking a lot about climate change and environment and how we should all do act about it. This also is affecting the fashion industry and so this one of the reasons I have joined the fight. My brother also is one of the people who has influenced me to be vegan and why I shouldn’t eat animals. I am grateful I opened my eyes.

Tell us something we don’t know about the creator’s work?

Oh yes! I can say a lot about it. Our job is difficult as a normal “office job”. While people are looking bloggers, creators and influencers taking pictures with different outfits they think is an easy task… but is not! There is time consuming involved, as well as choosing the right picture, using the right style or outfit and understanding all the platforms. I am trying to do it all on each channel and sometimes is very difficult to keep my creativity alive. But most of the times I try to create content “out of the box” and see what works best. I want my audience to enjoy all my content and sometimes I do polls or surveys to understand what they like most.  I try a lot to educate and teach them, especially with sustainability and vegan fashion. I do also use photoshop to create magic on my pictures and stand out from the crowd. Is part of my job to learn all the editing apps in order to be successful. Overall, being a creator is like another full time job, just with much more flexibility and fun!

How has you experience been building your Instagram community?

I can’t say I am total expert on instagram as I believe there is much more to learn, but what I can say is that I have learned from my mistakes and I have implemented the right techniques which allows me to organically reach people in my niche.  I do my own hashtag research, post high quality content as well as using the facebook manager ads. These strategies are giving me much more exposure and I can see that my account is slowly but quickly growing. I will invest next year in a new camera and I hope this push my account faster.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I see myself as a global icon in the fashion industry and a business woman. That’s my dream. I am working towards my goals and I won’t stop until I achieve them. Hard work pays off but will be rewarded with time.

We hope you enjoyed it and we thank Alexandra Linares for this interesting interview.
